Our Multi Million Pound Improvement Plan
Riverside's first five year investment programme to improve Carlisle tenants' homes is coming to an end with many of the promises made being exceeded:
Promise:
Invest £52 million over five years
Promise Delivered:
Actual and planned spend to end of 2007 £56.5 million
Promise:
Spend £20.2 million on responsive repairs and maintenance
Promise Delivered:
Spend on repairs will total £22.5 million
Promise:
Install new kitchens in over 2,500 homes
Promise Delivered:
4239 new kitchens installed costing £16.7 million
Promise:
New front and back doors to 2000 homes
Promise Delivered:
6840 homes have new doors costing £4.7 million
Promise:
Invest £400,000 per year (£2 million over five years) in community projects and lever in match funding
Promise Delivered:
£8.4 million invested over five years (Riverside invested £2.3 million and obtained match funding from over 50 organisations)
Promise:
Work closely with the police and other organisations on crime and disorder issues
Promise Delivered:
Riverside part funded a community police officer located at our Botchergate Offices, he works closely with housing and enforcement teams in tackling anti social behaiour issues. Some recent success was a crackhouse closure where Riverside funded surveillance for this and worked very closely with police. A joint leaflet naming and shaming ASBOs in Currock has been produced and distributed in November 2007
Promise:
Introduce an appointments system for repairs and maintenance
Promise Delivered:
Repairline now offer morning or afternoon appointments and hours have been extended to 6.30pm. Focus groups and consultation on improving repairs service was undertaken with our resident and many points raised were taken actioned.

The first Improving Your Home Programme was produced following extensive consultation with tenants, residents and stakeholders.
We are currently working on our strategy for the next five years and again this will be decided through major consultation and investigation into the needs of all our communities.
