Riverside - Cash for splash
25 March 2010
Housing association Riverside marked World Water Day by raising £880 for WaterAid.
In addition to collecting buckets of pennies, staff held a raffle with prizes donated by contractors and suppliers including Lovell, which is working in partnership with Riverside on several regeneration projects including SevenOaks in the Rock Ferry area of Wirral and Kensington Square in the Kensington area of Liverpool.
Other prizes were donated by PSL Print Management, Mando, Lilac Media, Crowne Plaza, Nando’s and Clair’s Beauty Salon.
WaterAid works in 26 countries providing water, sanitation and hygiene education to some of the world's poorest people.
Barbara Houghton, Riverside’s Corporate Strategy Manager, who is leading the fundraising campaign said: “WaterAid is our nominated charity and as such we have pledged to support it for three years. In the first 12 months we raised over £5,000 through different activities from bike riding and bog snorkelling to cake sales and conker championships.
“Now on the eve of our second year of support, I am delighted with the response to our raffle and bucket collection. Every penny raised will go towards transforming the lives of people who are in desperate need.”
