Riverside - Riverside beats bullying by the book

29 April 2010
Children at an Anfield school are being given a helping hand making the right choices about their future thanks to a book sponsored by housing association Riverside.

Working in partnership with the Children’s Safety Education Foundation, Riverside is supporting North Liverpool Academy’s PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic) curriculum by funding RESPECT! Your Life, Your Choice.

The book uses real life situations to examine various citizenship issues. It covers a variety of topics that are relevant to young people from anti-social behaviour, racial harassment and bullying to alcohol, drugs and solvent misuse.
Riverside’s Community Engagement officer Sophie Brown said: “We are committed to making our neighbourhoods safer. By raising awareness of the consequences of young people’s behaviour on their community and equipping them with the right information, we are encouraging them to make decisions for themselves which impact on their community in a positive way.”

Shaun McInerney, Assistant Principle (Leading Partnership) at North Liverpool Academy, said: “The book is a really useful resource. The material is not only relevant to young people but is written in a way which young people can relate to it.”
