Riverside - Bootle’s Got Talent

11 May 2010
Bootle’s Great Big Talent Search reached its climax with a host of acts battling it out in the grand finale.

Thirty acts were whittled down to just 12 who performed to a packed house of over 150 including local councillors and community representatives at Sefton Performing Arts and Community Education facility on Marsh Lane.

Audience members were treated to a night of pure entertainment as dance troupes, musical theatre acts, singers and musicians took to the stage.
Bob Campbell, Community Initiatives Officer for Riverside, which funded the event, said: “From start to finish the talent search has been a fantastic event, showcasing just how much talent we have in Bootle. All the acts were outstanding and it has been an immensely enjoyable experience for those involved and watching

“It was a fun event that celebrated all that is good about young people in Bootle. Youngsters get so much bad press these days yet events like this prove the young people who focus their energies in a positive way do achieve quite wonderful things.”

James Loughlin from Maghull High School won the singing award with a rendition of Cry me a River; Joe Hazlett, who played guitar and sung a medley of songs including a song penned by his band 909, won the alternative category; and Destiny, from Southport College, won the best dance act with a routine accompanied by Chris Brown’s Superhuman.

The winning acts in each of the three categories received a trophy and a £50 voucher of their choice.
