Riverside - Lost and found
Lost and found
Housing association Riverside teamed up with St Helens Neighbourhood Action Group to fund an event aimed at reuniting members of the public with their lost and stolen property.
Merseyside Police took to a marquee in Church Square in St Helens town centre to display goods that had recently been recovered from hedge-trimmers and power tools to bikes and vases.
The event was also a chance to encourage members of the public to engage with the police with the aim of reducing crime and the fear of crime, supporting victims of crime and increasing public confidence.
Riverside’s Neighbourhood Housing Officer Tanya Marsh said: “Working in partnership with the police to reduce crime is an important part of our role in sustaining communities. By creating an opportunity for residents to meet the police in an informal and impartial environment, we hope they will feel more comfortable than they may be in a police station, which for some can be intimidating.”
Neighbourhood Inspector David Westby added: “The event was a great success, so much so we are planning a similar event at the end of June.”
