Riverside ECHG - Tai-chi and Turntable-Music sessions get the generations “moving and groovin” at Leicester Festival
Tai-chi and Turntable-Music-Making were some of the taster sessions available free to the public at this year’s Leicester Riverside Festival on Sunday 7 June.

The taster sessions were run by housing association, English Churches Housing Group (ECHG). Throughout the day there were tai-chi displays by a group of ECHG’s 60+ sheltered housing tenants who have become enthusiastic tai-chi practitioners.

Along with this, ECHG’s young hostel residents participated in showcasing the delights of mixing and making their own music using ‘urban turntable’ techniques.

ECHG’s representative, Tonia Punter, said: “It was an amazing day and we had members of the public from five to eighty-five who joined in our taster sessions.
“The whole aim of the day was to give the public opportunities to get involved in things like tai-chi or Music-Making that they’ve never tried before. We’re delighted that in order to encourage the public to leave their inhibitions behind and get involved, we had two groups of our younger and older tenants to show them how it was done!”

Members of the public joined in with the regular taster sessions throughout the day, as well as enjoying the range of stalls and other displays being run by Riverside Housing, who along with ECHG, are part of the Riverside Group.
