The importance of Gas Safety for your family and your home

Riverside has a statutory obligation to carry out Gas Safety Checks. Tenants and public safety may be at risk if safety checks are not completed.

Where no access can be gained to a property, Riverside has a duty to pursue legal action to ensure that Gas Safety Checks are carried out as part of a twelve month cycle.

It is very important that every household has an annual Gas Safety Check for the continual wellbeing of all individuals. It is our duty to ensure tenants safety from the dangers of gas. For us to carry out this duty efficiently it is vital that all tenants are aware of their responsibility:

• When you receive a letter with the date of the Gas Service, you need to arrange for someone to be in the house on that day for the
Gas Service to be carried out.

• If nobody can be in on that date please ring the number on the letter or the 24 hour customer service 0845-111-0000 and arrange a date and time that is suitable.

• Keeping in contact with Riverside Waterfront about the date of the Gas Servicing allows Riverside Waterfront to carry out their duty to you, for your safety, and allows you to arrange a date which is more suited to your time.

• The annual Gas Safety Check will have been completed quickly and efficiently and your home and family will be safe.

The annual Gas Safety Check will highlight any faults in gas appliances and any danger of carbon monoxide poisoning. Carbon monoxide has no smell, which is why it is known as the silent killer. Therefore it is essential that the gas supply is checked annually in case of any faults which may need repairing.
